Amouage ubar woman review9/25/2023 This may not be common knowledge but I am more than a bit partial to a showy floral, there’s just something about the glamour and luxury of wearing great big flowers that takes away from the grey humdrum of every day life. Heart: Ylang-ylang, Violet, Everlasting Flower, Cistus, Benzoin, Olibanum and Patchouliīase: Cedar, Sandalwood, Castoreum, Civet, Leather, Musk, Vanilla, Maltol and Amber Top: Jasmine, Rose, Clary Sage, Clove Bud, Chamomile and Cardamom “Beloved engages the elegance and complexity of the modern woman: strong, empowered, animated, in control.” Amouage says that “Beloved engages the elegance and complexity of the modern woman: strong, empowered, animated, in control.” and to me it feels like a contemporary modern floral with a classic edge. It has been created to represent the modern woman so it stands to reason that it doesn’t need a man to shine. A perfume that has been bestowed with the named ‘Beloved’.īeloved is an unusual launch for Amouage because it stands alone without a masculine counterpart and it joins Ubar as one of the only fragrances in the line to do so. This year has been a good year for Amouage releases, March saw the release of the latest edition to the Library Collection with the orgasmically good amber Opus VI, and now, preceding the launch of Amouage’s annual masculine and feminine duo later this year, the house has launched a new feminine perfume exclusive to a small number of high-end department stores. Amouage’s creative director Christopher Chong has gone a long way to give the brand an international aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Puccini, Swan Lake and the Silk Road (to name but a few) to create perfumes that transcend culture and location. I’m always keen to see what Amouage is up to, they are a brand with incredible cohesion, yet each release is new, surprising and exciting. I have this problem with many feminine Amouages I must say, with the exception of the wonderful Gold, which has aldehydes, and they make everything better.“There’s just something about the glamour and luxury of wearing great big flowers that takes away the grey humdrum of everyday life.” Every nook and cranny of this composition is so filled to the brim with - beautifully blended -notes that I long for a little negative space. It's a big, vintage-like, opulent floral with one problem it's very, very dense. I like it better now, but it's still challenging. Ubar I had to order a sample of this thinking I'd never tried it before, but upon spraying it on, I know that I have, probably over a year ago when I first started getting into fragrance. I must say I'm not that keen on that note, which in combination with the lemon gives me a slight cleaning product vibe over an otherwise gorgeous rose. I too detect something unexpectedly aquatic in this, I was wondering if it was an association I had with one of the attars or if there's actually a note in Homage that is also found in certain masculine fragrances. Homage is a rose citrus to my nose, with perhaps a hint of incense, but not much. Homage I've just participated in a sample pass for Indian attars, and this definitely reminds me of that experience.
